A cleanroom is an extremely purified region in which temperature, air quality, and humidity are kept under strict management. The atmosphere in a cleanroom environment is filtered to remove other contaminants and dust particles Cleanrooms are primarily employed for the production of equipment which is sensitive to contaminants, including hard disk drives, silicon chips, microprocessors and integrated circuits. Cleanroom testing and certification procedures comprise of examining the room for assorted parameters, including static electricity, airborne particles, relative humidity, temperature and differential pressure.

Cleanroom Certification: HEPA Filter Setup Flow Evaluation

Several evaluations are included by the cleanroom certification testing procedure, some are required while others are not obligatory. Among the required cleanroom evaluations, the main one is as follows:

HEPA Filter Setup Flow Evaluation: HEPA cleanroom filters are highly powerful air particle filters, used to control microbes and pollutants and preserve environmental standards. The minimal efficacy revealed by means of a HEPA filter when examined using an aerosol is 99.97%.

The HEPA setup filter flow test is conducted to find flows, damage and faults in the filters. The evaluation also verifies whether or not they are installed correctly and the integrity of the filters.

Both kinds of flow tests readily available for cleanroom HEPA filters are:

* Complete flow evaluation

* Scan flow evaluation

For functions that were radioactive, simply the complete flow evaluation is allowed. Yet, for other uses, both of the evaluations may be performed.

Temperature/relative humidity measurement – confirms whether HVAC controls are functioning properly and uniformly

Optional tests include:

Air balancing – adjusts airflow in the air handling systems to achieve design airflow, room air exchange rates, and pressure cascade

Airflow visualization studies – qualitatively verifies airflow direction using a source of visible fog (TSS has several fog options including carbon dioxide, glycol, and liquid nitrogen)

Viable environmental monitoring [EM] – performed on both air and surfaces to determine if any bacterial and fungal contamination is present

Compressed air and gas testing – ensures compressed air and gas systems meet the requirements of the controlled environment testing includes: non-viable and viable particulate, total hydrocarbon (oil), and dew point determination

Lighting, vibration, and sound tests – performed to design specifications to ensure worker comfort

Room recovery testing – performed to determine whether an area is capable of returning to a specified cleanliness level after non-routine exposure events

Perform additional testing as specified by client and/or ISO/IEST guidelines
